We sat with Sammy to understand who inspired her, her career and journey to an egoless workplace and what drives her passion and spark in life.

NAME THREE FEMALES THAT INSPIRE YOU.

My Mum & Sister – they’re basically one person and I feel insanely lucky every day to call them my family and best friends. They taught me everything I know about love, respect, kindness, and the power of vulnerability. They taught me that as a woman we can really do it all.

Darnelle O’Brien – The Owner & Director of KISS Marketing Agency and my OG BOSS LADY. I will forever be grateful for the knowledge, wisdom and confidence Darnelle has given me since I first walked into her office as her junior Marketing Assistant. Darnelle is a fearless leader, never afraid to take risks and be bold. ‘Know your worth’ is something that Darnelle instilled in me from day one.

 Emily Yates – Fashion & lifestyle Influencer and Photographer. I find I get so much creative energy when I’m browsing through Emily’s photography platform (@myvisualcurrency). I love the work she does in bringing all aspects of the female form to light, in all its beauty.

 

WHAT INSPIRES YOU TO WORK WITHIN A WOMEN-LED SPACE?

Working within the fashion industry, It’s fulfilling to find amazing, authentic humans who teach me and empower me even on days when I feel stagnant. Being a business owner is not easy so I’m constantly surrounding myself with women who have a positive influence over my energy and work, women who challenge me in order to grow, women who are willing to give advice and direction, or to simply just cheer me on from the sideline!

HOW DO YOU ENVISION THE FUTURE OF WOMEN-LED BUSINESSES FOR THE NEXT GENERATION TO COME? 

In an industry that can sometimes be crowded with ego, I believe it is our responsibility to empower the next generation to work as a community, by supporting and motivating each other rather than competing against one another. We all have such unique qualities and strengths that must be nurtured and celebrated. I hope that the next generation is able to see this too.

WHAT SPARKS PASSION IN LIFE FOR YOU?

I’m happiest when I’m creating, not only for myself but for other people. I love helping others to grow and find happiness and success through the work that I do for their business.
